Rankings Freeze and Play-In Dates Summary

6A Softball

32-team OSAA bracket

  1. Automatic Qualifiers – Twenty-one teams automatically qualify for the OSAA's 32-team bracket based on regular season and/or district tournament play on or before Thursday, May 16. Each league determines how they will select their allotted playoff spots.

    1. PIL – 3; Metro – 3; Pacific - 3; Mt. Hood – 3; Three Rivers – 3; Central Valley – 3; Southwest – 3

      PIL - McDaniel, Franklin, Ida B. Wells
      Metro - Westview, Jesuit, Southridge
      Pacific - McMinnville, Forest Grove, Sherwood
      Mt. Hood - Central Catholic, Barlow, Sandy
      Three Rivers - Oregon City, West Linn, Tigard
      Central Valley - West Salem, South Salem, McNary
      Southwest - Sheldon, North Medford, Roseburg

  2. Rankings Freeze Date – The rankings will freeze at 10pm on Thursday, May 16 (includes all games played that day).

  3. At-Large Qualifiers – Eleven additional teams qualify for the OSAA's 32-team bracket based on the OSAA rankings.

    1. Once the rankings are frozen, the eleven highest ranked teams not already an automatic league qualifier will qualify as At-Large teams.

      At-Large #1 - Sunset
      At-Large #2 - Lakeridge
      At-Large #3 - South Medford
      At-Large #4 - Gresham
      At-Large #5 - Glencoe
      At-Large #6 - Aloha
      At-Large #7 - Nelson
      At-Large #8 - Newberg
      At-Large #9 - Tualatin
      At-Large #10 - Grants Pass
      At-Large #11 - Mountainside

  4. Rankings – Once the 32 qualifying teams are determined, they will be placed on the OSAA bracket according to OSAA Executive Board Policy "State Championships – Rankings".
