Kyle Stanfield: If you have any questions please feel free to put them in the chat and we will try to answer them along the way. Matt Myers: A lot of folks are asking about the 2 team rule for xcountry. Is there an exception for small schools? If a team has 10 runners it seems like a small school waiver for a 3 or 4 school meet would make sense. Kyle Stanfield: Matt - we will cover that in a moment samuel.platt: Is there any chance Metrics for athletics will align with school metrics? Increase Extreme to 350? Kyle Stanfield: Samuel - at this moment we have not heard of that change forthcoming. We know ODE and others are asking if that change may be an option but at this point we haven't heard of a change Ian O'Brien: Any insight on what the board is thinking based on the few work sessions on where they are leaning as we get closer to Feb 8. Will there be any updates prior to the 8th on the work sessions? Kyle Stanfield: Ian - Hopefully Pete covers your questions as we move the presentation GregM: How many states in the US have not played football at this time or are not planning on playing football? Kyle Stanfield: Greg, Brad has that information, he will put that in the chat Brad Garrett - OSAA: @GregM - this webpage provides a state by state update on football status .. https://scorebooklive.com/california/what-are-the-start-dates-for-high-school-football-in-all-50-states-latest-updates/ Kyle Stanfield: County Risk Level Link: https://coronavirus.oregon.gov/Pages/living-with-covid-19.aspx#countystatus Kyle Stanfield: Link to Summary Chart: https://public.tableau.com/profile/oregon.health.authority.covid.19#!/vizhome/OregonCountiesCOVID-19RiskLevelsSummaryTable/SummaryTable Kyle Stanfield: Risk level infographic: https://www.osaa.org/docs/osaainfo/infographic/covid-infographic.html Brad Garrett - OSAA: This includes start and end dates - and current status Billy Colson: Is the flag or 7 on 7 if that is the option, going to require referees or can they be ran with local adults/staff? Kyle Stanfield: Billy - if its overseen by the OSAA we would require certified officials if that's the way the Board chose. More information forthcoming Kevin Swift: I am assuming that even if we play a sport, locker rooms and showers will still be off-limits? I have some hygenie and concerns if that is the case Kyle Stanfield: Kevin - Yes, the limitations within locker rooms, showers etc per the indoor guidance Kevin Swift: So kids would not have locker rooms to change or shower in? Or just social distancing in the locker room Kyle Stanfield: Kevin - check out the indoor guidance under Locker Rooms: https://sharedsystems.dhsoha.state.or.us/DHSForms/Served/le2352.pdf Ian O'Brien: Can we get a link to the data for Rule of 2? Ian O'Brien: This has to be a one year rule for small schools. Ian O'Brien: Can we get a break down on the Rule of 2 per classification? Ian O'Brien: Can we get a breakdown 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A of how each class voted on the Rule of 2. We have never been remotely close in Sunriver to changing this. Kyle Stanfield: Ian - I have the question on my list to follow up on Josh Mink: What exactly does the state look at to determine the risk level? We have dropped nearly 100 cases a week over the last month, but our Case Rate % goes up..... so do we need to test more people? Kyle Stanfield: Josh - unsure how to answer your question. Possible your question could be answered at https://coronavirus.oregon.gov/Pages/living-with-covid-19.aspx#countystatus Kyle Gilbert: do players have to maintain 25ft as well? Shawn: so kids can be closer than 25 feet - just the coach is restricted Kyle Stanfield: Kyle - we will get to that Mark Stewart: How can we have 23 students in a strength and conditioning class but only 6 in the same facility for athletics? Kyle Stanfield: Mark - great question. We are trying to gain additional clarification from OHA on this Patrick McKnight: if your school district is not having high school come back in person until March or in some cases April. will they be allowed to participate in sports? Kyle Stanfield: Patrick - that is a decision to your school district on if you are going to participate in the activities that are permitted. There is no tie to school reopening to activities anymore Kacey McNulty - EPHS: Can we run multiple sessions? Kyle Stanfield: Kacey - you can run multiple session but each student is limited to 45 minutes Josh Mink: The way I read the RSSL for schools in Extreme Counties, the PE department must also follow the OHA K-12 Sports Guidance Mike Hughes: RSSL "Recommends" following OHA K-12 Sports Guidance but "Allows" the entire class of students if you keep them 6 feet apart and follow other rules. Ray Yarbrough: Is each coach limited to 45 minutes also ? Ray Yarbrough: So, would you have to rotate coaches through ? Clay Rounsaville: What about a 45 minute basketball practice followed by a 45 minute volleyball? Kyle Stanfield: Clay - believe that would be permissible if they're all different kids Joel Sobotka: what about being outside for 45 minutes then coming inside for 45 minutes? Kyle Stanfield: Joel - we will ask that at the next break Clay Rounsaville: So the same kid can't do two workouts a day Kyle Stanfield: Indoors is limited to 45 minutes per student per day - I'll clarify though Dave Williams: Kyle - if football goes to 7 v 7 or flag and is governed by OSAA requiring certified officials and your local association will not service this format.....Then what??? Kyle Stanfield: Dave - great question, we had discussion with a number of officials associations about the potential change. If there are problems we hope to work between the officials and school to make it happen. Will continue to work with officials associations Brad Dunten PVHS: If a softball team is co-oped with three schools cant play another team who has a co-op with two schools? Mike Hughes: Regarding just two schools. Can a XC race run in waves? Could 3 - 4 schools compete if they arrive and leave separately over many hours, and only race against one other school? Gary Lewis - SHS: If we have 2 teams that are both made up of co-ops does that violate the "2 school rule"? Kevin Swift: If we have 2 separate gyms - 4 teams would Work? Kyle Stanfield: Good questions, we will ask for clarification Jerry.Buczynski WHS: Just want to be clear, if we have a cross country meet scheduled with three schools that will not be allowed? Kyle Stanfield: Jerry - at this point that is correct. Joel Sobotka: Does yesterday's NFHS change to sport risk levels have any impact for Oregon or OHA? Kyle Stanfield: Joel - we provided that to the OHA and Governors office. They are reviewing GregM: Can someone address the information that just was posted from the NFHS revises guidance on COVID 19 transmission during sports. I don't know how this cannot help with the decision of allowing football to start in the state of Oregon. Kyle Stanfield: Greg - we shared the information immediately with the OHA and the Governors Office along with organizing conversations with OHA and the Governors office about that information Kyle Cowan - OADA: Is there specifications on what type of face mask? All are permissible? K.T. Emerson- OSAA: Statewide, masks or face coverings are required to be worn by all individuals at all times, even while participating in activities. “Face covering” means a cloth, polypropylene, paper or other face coverings that covers the nose and the mouth and that rests snugly above the nose, below the mouth and on the sides of the face. Matt Morgan: Can we get a copy of these slides? Kyle Stanfield: Matt - yes we will post Ryan Heinrich: can a student on track to graduate take less than 5 classes if they do not need them Kyle Stanfield: Ryan, that would have to be requested through Peter. That will be situational TPearson: Could we send Peter a list of new students transferring into our school? Kris Welch: No Kyle Stanfield: Updated FAQ's https://www.osaa.org/docs/osaainfo/OSAAFAQsJan29.pdf DHampton: When will the decisions on 2/8 be announced? Kyle Stanfield: DHampton - its an open meeting which we will be streaming if you wish to watch. If not, we will try to get the summary of decisions out ASAP Lance Haas: What if our officials association has said they will not work 7 on 7 contests.? Greg Grant HHS: Will you be looking into the "time trial" style cross country meet format that was successfully run this fall at the club level? GregM: Will there be considerations that officials associated with the school will be allowed to officiate the games due to the limited officials from our association? Kyle Stanfield: Lance and Greg - its on my list to discuss as a staff right after this meeting Jack Folliard: Lance - I have heard a little about officials not wanting to work 7X7 but haven't heard why. Let's talk - what's a good tel. number for you? Kyle Stanfield: Greg - possibly - having those conversations with the Board David Heard: Southern Oregon WILL NOT be covering 7 on 7 Jack Folliard: Brad - I'm going to research where/why the reluctance. Jerry.Buczynski WHS: How many officials do you think will be required for 7 on 7? Kyle Stanfield: Jerry - working through details Brad Garrett - OSAA: @Jerry - most likely 3 would be required for 7 on 7 games.. Ryan Tompkins: would you recommend inviting coaches to the fall sports webinar Kyle Stanfield: Ryan - our goal is to keep it AD but record them for coaches to view afterward Kris Welch: https://www.osaa.org/docs/osaainfo/COVID Preparedness.pdf samuel.platt: Did the majority of member schools vote to have OSAA sanction 7v7 or allow local options? Kyle Stanfield: Samuel - yes Scott Gragg: Will Feb 16 webinar cover best practices for XC meets? It'd be great to get some "general guidance" as we work to schedule meets. Kris Welch: Yes bdelamarter: Can schools that remain in extreme counties, play v-ball games outside their counties? Will this be allowed by OHA or OSAA or does it just come down to those host schools in lower risk counties to allow extreme counties to come in? Kyle Stanfield: Brian Delmarter - per the OHA its not advised for school to travel to other counties if an activity isn't permitted in your county (i.e. volleyball) Josh Mink: Can we travel to another state? Our Home Golf Course is in Idaho...… That is where we would practice & host Kyle Stanfield: Josh - good question - I will put on my list and double back. Ben Winegar: Is the suspension of the practice model 5A/6A pending approval of the executive board, or is it official at this time? Kyle Stanfield: Ben - that is on the agenda for Feb 8 Mike Hughes: Regarding wearing football helmets and pads. As we reach Feb. 15 and if the Governor has not approved contact sports, can we wear football gear (helmets then pads) as long as none of our drills involve contact? Kyle Stanfield: Mike - Brad will answer your question Brad Garrett - OSAA: @Mike - the Board will have to make a decision on protective equipment use if we are not able play contact sports. Thomas Armstrong: there is a lot of talk about dividing a football field into two and defining as two venues - 50 kids on one end and 50 kids on the other end - divided at the 50 yard line and defining as two venues..... Clinton Gertenrich: As commented earlier, is there a provision to have 50 kids on one half of the field and 50 on the other half with a barrier on the 5o yard line with separate entrances and exits for groups? Kyle Stanfield: Clinton - we will get clarification on what you're asking along with Thomas Brian Armstrong: If we are allowed to play 11 on 11 football, are there conversations going with OHA about moving the outdoor facility limits as well. If it stays at 50 we can't have contests etc. Kyle Stanfield: Brian - yes, we know that the outdoor restrictions of 50 people (as example) is problematic, we are working with OHA to find out if those restrictions can be lifted as well
